International Coastal Cleanup/Adopt a Beach
Saturday, September 19, 2009
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Please join us in participating with thousands of volunteers around
the world who will be cleaning their favorite beaches as part of this
annual event. It’s sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy and the Alliance
for the Great Lakes. We’ll meet at the parking lot of West Beach near
the Lake/Porter county line. Snacks and water will be provided along

We'll get off the beaten path and go explore a few great places in Northwest Indiana.
August 29, Beginner Canoe at Mill Creek in Union Mills

$25 per canoe with 3 paddles and 2 life vests - extra vest for $2
No flip-flops, be prepared to get wet and be ready for bugs and the sun. Bring water.
September 26, 3:30 pm at Hammond Bird Sanctuary in Hammond
October 24, 2:30 pm at Indiana Dunes to hike and camp overnight

Solar Tour

Join one of several local tours
spotlighting renewable energy installations right in here in Indiana.
They are being coordinated by the Indiana Renewable Energy Association,
which is one of the newest chapters of the American Solar Energy Society.

Adopt a Highway
Sunday, October 4, 10 a.m.
Come out for the final cleanup
of the season at our beautiful piece of US Route 12 east and west of
Lake/Porter County Line Road. We may spot some migrating birds while
picking up here along the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and the Inland
Marsh.
Meet us at the Inland Marsh parking lot near Ogden Dunes. Please bring
gloves and dress for the weather. Water and snacks provided; plus, if
you can make it to the remaining cleanups, you’ll get a cool gift!
